This solid oak hutch I picked up from CL.   here.      SOLD

Here is a cute little Mt Airy dresser that I found on CL
The top was in decent shape. Gave it a good sanding and a few coats
of dark walnut stain. The wood soaked it up like a sponge.

I made my own chalk paint using some white and a bit of a buttery yellow that I had.

I had this fabric lying around. Thought it went well with the colors.

Left the original hadware after shining them up a bit.         SOLD

Obviously the BEFORE......yech! Found this beauty on, where else, Craigslist. Couldn't wait to get out of the guy's house with it. He had a piece of meat drying in front of a swamp cooler in his living room!!! I mean, seriously??? Don't even get me started on what the rest of his house looked like. I felt like bathing in bleach after I left.  Anyway, this is what I turned it into...

This was actually the first time I tried out the home made chalk paint recipe....
I used Martha Stewart paint....I loved working with it.
two coats and some sanding and a coat of Minwax dark wax.

I painted the larger hardware and got the glass beaded ones for the top drawers

This was my second find off of CL.

She needed some surgery to repair her two busted front paws.

I used Martha Stewart Latex semi-gloss in opal
with a black glaze.
Minwax wipe-on poly finished it off.
This was actually the first piece I ever did.

I liked the idea of putting fabric in the drawers.
It just makes it look "cleaner".

sold

The Peacock vanity/desk.

You can read about this one here.    SOLD

  2. Wow!!! You have been busy. My daughter/blog partner and I bought a hutch at Goodwill like the first one you showed in the photos. We made our own chalk paint, and it turned out great. Since her house is a craftsman style, we removed the curvy part of the hutch, and now it's lines are nice and straight. We, too, left the top unpainted.
